Mini Company: 2nd Outing

Dear Followers,
On Wednesday we went to the Moat Theatre in Naas for our second talk for mini company. The talk was based on marketing, gather and using market research and financing your project. Our company Green Hero had a lot done on this already but they gave us a list of more things within these areas especially financing. So it turns out there's a lot more work to be done than we expected!

We are designing the magazine at the moment! So it's all coming together nicely and we're getting really excited about it all now that's it's materialising. So hopefully I'll have a picture of the finished product soon.

Mace Debating 2010!

Dear followers,
As you may or may not know I'm a pretty keen debater. So on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon myself and three other friends headed to Mount Sackville to participate in their annual mace debate. You may be wondering what the hell a mace debate is, well it is where you go, your giving your motion(what your going to debate about) and have fifteen minutes to write a five minute speech! It was my first time so I was really nervous! The first motion was "That this house will Impose Capital Punishment", and my partner and I had to say yes, bring back the death penalty. It was a tough one but the next one was the worst "That this house Believes that the X-Factor is a Tainted Brand" and we had to say that no its not a tainted brand! This was going against my beliefs and the fact that I don't even watch made it worse but sure enough we survived! On Saturday our first debate was "That this house will Ban All Violent Video Games". We has to say yes ban these video games so it was not to bad. The last one we debated on before the semi-finals was "That this house will Abolish Remission for Good Behaviour" this means stop all prisoners from getting out early on the grounds of good behaviour. We were opposing this motion and it was a pretty tough one.

Unfortunately we didn't make it to the finals but did stay to 'watch and learn' as they say! The semi-final debate motion was "This house Believes that in a Two Part State Solution for Israel". It was a very interesting one to watch and  the final debate which was one of the best was "This house will Bring forward a National Government for Ireland" (one big coalition of all the parties). It was a great debate and I learned loads. I offer my congratulations the Casltenock Community College team A who got First place. They well deserved it.

Overall they were a great two days and I learned so much and made loads of new people. I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again!

Image Consultants!

Dear Followers,
On Friday morning for the first three classes two lovely ladies came into us to talk to us about image. The session was called Colour Me Beautiful. They went through what colours suit what people, discussed style personalities and briefly(because unfortunately we ran out of time) body shape. The different colour types in our class were warm, clear, deep, soft(that's me!) and light. Since I'm a soft I should wear blended colours, which means pastels mixed with medium than dark colours, basically blending! I should also keep block colours like black away from my top and keep them to the bottom because they might 'drown' me out. I have a mixed style between a Romantic(girly) a Laid-Back style. The perfect mix I'd like to say, but then again I would cause its my personal style. The ladies also warned us that when we're shopping with friends who don't have a similar style or are the same colour we should be careful not to judge clothes your friends like because the colour wouldn't suit you or suit your style, but that they suit you friend! I'm considered curvy so I should draw attention to my middle and not my top or bottom.
 So over all I learned a lot rom it and what I should be wearing!

Mini Company

Dear followers,
This Monday Orlaigh from Kildare Enterprise Broad came in to talk to us about our mini company project. We had to explain to her our ideas and how we were going to put them in place. She really quized us about it to help us and she gave us her ideas and told us her doubts.

It was a real insight into what the judges are looking for and how we should make a simple idea into the next big thing in order to wow the judges at the awards in January!

Our mini company Green Hero (greenheromag.blogspot.com) is doing great at the moment. We have nearly achieved our money target! Which is great! We are now working on what's going into the mag and it's design. So still a lot of work to do, but notting that's impossible!

Mini Company!

Dear Followers,
My friends and I have set up our Mini Company! We are making a magazine that promotes all things green, to primary school children and their families! It's called Green Hero!  We know it's going to be our top priority, but none of us mind and I've no doubt in our teams capability to work hard and get the job done to a high quality!

I'll keep you posted on how we're getting on. This week we are working on our sponsorships so we're very busy.

Geography Project Update!

Dear Followers,
As part of our geography project we have to visit six countries countries, two from the first world, two from the secound world and two from the third world, in groups of three. I'm put on looking at the first world countries. I've choosen to visit England and America using €12,000.
