Dear followers,
Monday the 13th on September 2010 T.Y.'s headed to Carlingford adventure centre in Co.Louth for two days of tiring activities. We met up at the local petrol station at 7am, a very early Monday morning!
When we got there we were more awake and ready to go! We were allocated our bedrooms and divided into six groups. I was roomed with my three friends NR, LY, KW. After we dumped our bags in the room we headed off to a steep field for morning activities with our wonderful instructor M. Groups 4, 5 and 6 did the challenges. We choose to do the low ropes which were very funny and which required good balance! Unfortunately I lost the fifth gem for the group because I fell on the group swing! Sorry...:( We then did the maze which was a rope maze and we were blindfolded and had to ring the four bells! It was funny because we kept walking to far and away from the maze! Then we did water pump, which was changing a barrel but getting to the old one on six planks! It was hard but what was worse M started splashing us with muddy water! We were soaked and dirty! We shared or dirt with the other girls and the teachers 'cause we didn't want them to feel left out!...:D Our final challenge, and my favorite, was the communication breakdown. It was so much fun! We were put into a pitch black storage container through one trap trap door and had to make it out another trap door in fifteen minutes together in order to pass! It was so much fun and we had a good laugh!
Our next activity of the day was water activities on the lough! We rafted three canoe boats together and so did the other group. We got into the water and on our way! Obviously our group were the best! When we got to the wall P ans M(two of the instructors on dingys, they followed us around) started throwing water at us, which was really cold, and then P jumped on our raft and started throwing us off into the water! We got him back eventually but it was all in good fun! After the raft we rowed back to the shore and went pier jumping!!!! It was crazy and one of my favorite parts of the trip!
Later that evening we went on a night hike! It was ok but I won't be hiking anytime soon! As soon as we got back to the centre and got ready for bed I fell strait asleep and didn't wake til half seven he next morning!
After a good breakfast we headed out again! We went on the high ropes! It was terrifying! I did Jacob's ladder and got to the second part of the beams! I did conquer soom of my height fears which I was really pleased with!
Later that evening we went orienteering on the mountain! the group I was in were the quickest and got all the numbers even though I slipped once or twice on the very wet ground!
Overall I had a fantastic time and I'm still recovering but it is worth it! Thank You to Ms.R and Ms.C who came with us and Ms.L for organising it! It's a trip I'll always remember!
Thank You,
Talk Soon,
RoisinP.
